Types and Characteristics of Building Coating

Ⅱ. Functional characteristics of building coatings

1. Building coatings have decorative functions, protection functions and habitability improvement functions. The proportions of various functions are different due to different purposes.

2. The decorative function is the function of enhancing the appearance value of a building by beautifying it. It mainly includes the concept design of plane color, pattern and gloss and the concept design of three-dimensional pattern. However, it must be matched with the shape of the building itself and the size and shape of the base material itself in order to fully exert it.

3. The protection function refers to the function of protecting the building from the influence and destruction of the environment. Different types of protected objects have different requirements for the protection function. For example, the indicators required for indoor and outdoor coating are very different. Some buildings have special requirements for mildew resistance, fire prevention, heat preservation, heat insulation and corrosion resistance.

4. The habitability improvement function is mainly for indoor painting. It is the function that helps to improve the living environment, such as sound insulation, the role of sound absorbing coatings and their classification, anti-condensation and so on.
