Analysis and Comparison of Four Common Types of Floor Paint

Currently, floor paints can be divided into four categories based on resin: epoxy floor paint, acrylic floor paint, polyurethane floor paint, and phenolic floor paint.

Epoxy floor paint

Epoxy floor paint can be said to be one of the most commonly used floor paints nowadays. It has excellent performance and can be further divided into wear-resistant, anti-static, self-leveling, and many other subtypes.

The advantage of epoxy floor paint is that it has good adhesion to cement concrete floors, good wear resistance and anti-corrosion properties. It is commonly seen in parking garages, workshops, electronic factories, etc., but rarely used outdoors.

Acrylic floor paint

Acrylic floor paint is now more common on sports fields, such as basketball courts and tennis courts in schools and sports arenas.

The advantage of acrylic floor paint is that it has good waterproof and dustproof properties, weather resistance, good flexibility of the paint surface, and long service life. It is commonly used outdoors and can also be used in some workshops and garages. However, the compressive and wear resistance of acrylic floor paint are not as good as epoxy floor paint.

Polyurethane floor paint

Polyurethane floor paint is currently not widely used. The adhesion of this floor paint to cement floors is not good, and its hardness is not very good either. There are not many types of products, mainly used for non-slip and elastic floors.

Phenolic floor paint

Phenolic floor paint is mainly used for dust prevention in offices. It is a mildly corrosive floor paint, unlike the other three types that are mostly used in environments with higher load capacities. Phenolic floor paint is only suitable for pedestrian traffic and not for heavy loads.
