What Kind of Paint is Chlorinated Rubber Paint? What is Chlorinated Rubber?

What kind of paint is the chlorinated rubber paint we often hear about, and what is chlorinated rubber? What are the characteristics of chlorinated rubber paint? In daily life, where will chlorinated rubber paint be used, let's take a look!

1. What is chlorinated rubber paint?

Chlorinated rubber varnish is a kind of self-drying paint. Chlorinated rubber varnish dries faster, and the paint film has strong adhesion, and is also resistant to water, acid and alkali. Chlorinated rubber varnish is mostly used for rubber enamel surface finish or chemical equipment surface anticorrosion.

It can also be painted with chlorinated rubber paint to make deck anti-skid paint. First, after cleaning the deck surface, apply iron red alkyd primer twice. After 8-10 hours of the first primer, you can apply the second degree. After 24 hours, apply the chlorinated rubber paints. The first degree of deck paint When it is not dry, sprinkle emery or yellow sand, and then spread the sand evenly with a broom. After a period of time, sweep away the unbonded sand, and then apply a second medium plate paint to prevent rust. Anti-slip purpose.

The rubber-type antifouling paint has a relatively stable poisoning rate and a long validity period, among which the chlorinated rubber antifouling paint is the most important. Chlorinated rubber antifouling paint is easy to construct and easy to maintain, so it is widely used in ships.

Chlorinated rubber antifouling coatings are suitable for any climate. Because the solvent in the subsequent paint can soften the surface of the previous paint, the interval time for recoating is not high. In these respects, chlorinated rubber coatings are better than epoxy resins. coating. Vinyl coatings also have some of the above advantages. Chlorinated rubber coatings are more tolerant to moisture, and each paint can obtain a large paint film thickness, and the thickness of a dry film can reach 75 to 100 microns; the solvents used are mainly aromatic hydrocarbons, The cyclohexanone solvent used for vinyl resin has a heavy odor during construction and is more expensive.

2. What is chlorinated rubber?

After the natural rubber is hot-pressed to reduce its viscosity, it is dissolved in carbon tetrachloride solvent, and the rubber content is about 5% of the solvent. Then pass chlorine gas for chlorination, put it in hot water above 80 degrees Celsius after chlorination, neutralize it with sodium hydroxide solution, and then heat and distill it. After the solvent is evaporated to dryness, the chlorinated rubber will precipitate out, and then dry , pulverized to obtain powdery chlorinated rubber.

It is composed of two forms of trinitride rubber molecules and tetrachloride rubber molecules. The average chlorine content is about 65%. The molecular weight is not more than 5000. Chlorinated rubbers vary in viscosity. The specific gravity of chlorinated rubber is about 1.6. Chlorinated rubber decomposes at 130 degrees Celsius.

According to the difference in viscosity, that is, the higher the chlorine content of chlorinated rubber, the lower the viscosity of the solution, and the chlorinated rubber can be divided into many specifications.
