Due to its special cathodic protection function, strong wear and tear and welding properties, epoxy zinc-rich primer is highly favored by customers.
When customers purchase paint, we will provide them with instructions on how to use epoxy zinc-rich primer. It is important to follow the paint instructions to ensure the anti-corrosion and rustproof performance of the paint is fully utilized!
The thickness of the coating film is also strictly regulated. Customers may ask, how to measure the thickness of the coating film? Below, we will introduce you to how to measure the coating thickness of epoxy zinc-rich primer.
The thickness of the coating film is divided into wet film and dry film:
Measuring the wet film thickness. Use a small, rectangular metal plate with teeth on both sides. The two end surfaces of each side of the tooth shape are in the same horizontal plane, while the middle teeth are at different heights from the horizontal plane. When in use, hold it vertically and attach it to the surface being tested. The maximum reading of the tooth shape adhering to the wet film is the thickness of the wet film.
Measuring the dry film thickness. The dry film thickness gauge is the most commonly used equipment for measuring coating film thickness. If not available, mechanical methods such as lever micrometers can be used to measure the thickness of the coating on the metal substrate. Due to the structural limitations of the lever micrometer itself, it can only be used to measure small test plates.
For other substrates used in zinc-rich primer coatings, such as glass, wood, paper, etc., a lever micrometer is generally used to measure the coating film thickness. First, measure the thickness of the glass substrate, then measure the total thickness of the glass plate and the coating film after coating. Subtract the thickness of the glass substrate from the total thickness, and the thickness of the coating film can be obtained.
While epoxy zinc-rich primer is stored, ventilation should be considered and exposure to sunlight should be avoided. Also, the reasonable storage time is 12 months, and if the storage time exceeds the validity period, it must be tested to ensure it can be used again.
In the spraying process, professional technical spraying personnel must follow the instructions to prevent unnecessary inconveniences caused by poor actual operation. If used in high temperature season, it is easy to produce dry spraying. Paint thinner can be used to adjust to prevent this situation. The surface layer of the coating will produce zinc salt if exposed to the environment for a long period, which must be solved immediately, and the cleaning must be done well, otherwise it will affect the adhesion of the solid layer.
