Similar to other types of paint construction, the substrate should be clean, dry, and free of oil and dust. As epoxy paint is mostly used on cement concrete, cracks and voids on the concrete surface should be avoided. The old concrete surface may be loose and dusty, and the floor needs to be strengthened to increase adhesion.

Sweep the dust and loose surface of the floor lightly. If there are cracks, voids, etc., use mortar for repairs and then let it dry completely before grinding. New cement floors generally do not require this step, but if the old cement floor is significantly loose, grinding is necessary.

If there are oil stains on the old floor, use a diluent to remove them, and then rinse the floor with water. If the floor is relatively clean, just use water to rinse off the dust, cement debris, etc. on the floor. Then wait for the floor to dry and turn white. The moisture content of the floor should be below 8%, and drying can be accelerated by baking.

In some areas with high groundwater levels, the floor is prone to moisture penetration, which can cause bubbling of the paint film. In this case, the floor needs to be treated with waterproofing and anti-seepage measures. Generally, epoxy seal primer is used to coat the floor to improve its strength and prevent water vapor from penetrating the paint film.

After treatment, the floor for epoxy paint should be clean, dry, flat, and have a firm substrate. These are all important considerations for the construction of epoxy paint. Many floor paint problems are caused by poor substrate preparation, so special attention should be paid to substrate treatment.
