Construction Plan and Precautions for Chlorinated Rubber Paint on Steel Structures in Water

Waterborne steel structures refer to steel structures used in places such as water parks, docks, floating houses, and bridges. Due to the need for anti-corrosion and rust prevention in water environments, this type of waterborne steel structure can use a construction scheme of chlorinated rubber paint.

Usage environment: In environments with large amounts of water vapor and salt spray, this is a C4 environment, with a high risk of rust and salt spray corrosion.

Chlorinated Rubber Paint Matching Scheme for Waterborne Steel Structures

Primer

Chlorinated rubber primer (2 coats, film thickness is about 80μm) has excellent weather resistance and chemical resistance, can effectively prevent the corrosion of water vapor or salt spray, and can adhere to the substrate surface.

Middle paint

Epoxy Yun Tie Middle paint (2 coats, film thickness is about 120μm) has excellent shielding and isolation, can prevent contact between water vapor or corrosive substances and the substrate. At the same time, it plays the role of a bonding agent between the primer and topcoat

Topcoat

Chlorinated rubber topcoat (1-2 coats, film thickness is about 60μm) has corrosion resistance and weather resistance, and improves the service life of the substrate. At the same time, it has strong resistance to sunlight oxidation, which can protect the middle paint and primer.

Overall characteristics: The total film thickness of chlorinated rubber paint is about 260μm. Chlorinated rubber has strong adhesion and is not easily peeled off. Solvent volatilization is fast and easy to release, so it has excellent fast-drying performance and good durability, and can automatically dry at -20°C ~ 50°C.

After filming, it has good sealing performance, low oxygen and water vapor permeation rate, and can withstand the erosion of general acids, alkalis, salts, water, C12, HC1, H2S, SO2, and other chemicals.

At the same time, chlorinated rubber paint has excellent recoatability, and there is no need to remove the old paint film when recoating on old chlorinated rubber paint, which can save time and effort.

Precautions for Chlorinated Rubber Paint on Waterborne Steel Structures

  • Construction should be suspended during rain and proper covering should be done. Heavy rain will seriously affect the quality of outdoor rust prevention construction

  • When the humidity is too high, the construction should be suspended and preparations should be made. When the air humidity is> 90%, it will affect both the newly painted coating and the coating in construction

  • Chlorinated rubber paint has high requirements for substrate treatment, and the substrate should be polished clean to make the surface free of residual oil, salt, and other substances. It is recommended that the surface of the substrate be ISO standard roughness grade G.

  • Chlorinated rubber coatings are thermoplastic coatings and will decompose at 130°C in a dry environment. They begin to decompose at ≧60°C in a humid environment, so the use temperature should not exceed 60~70°C.

The above is the use scheme and precautions of chlorinated rubber paint on waterborne steel structures. The chemical resistance and weather resistance of chlorinated rubber paint protect steel structures from being corroded by water vapor, oxygen, and salt spray in the air, making it an excellent choice for C4 environment use.
